Craving autumn

It’s always about this time of year when my sight gets set on the next season. Maybe it’s the oppressive heat, or the chaos that comes with the summer, but I’ve hit my point and I want the fall to be here like yesterday.

Blog readers — you may be familiar with posts like this in the past. I’m a big fan autumn. I’m more productive, I eat better, my house is cleaner, I’m happier, and everything is cozier. So yeah, I’m ready to put an end to the summer of fun.

Anyway, this weekend is going to be a quiet one. Lots of golf on TV sets a very peaceful mood around the house, and so hopefully I can use that to finish up some reading, do some laundry, and a little bit of cleaning.

I should be able to finish up Bel Ami this weekend. That’s been a pretty decent read. I’m excited to see it adapted to screen, because I think it will be way better.

aRP!

This weekend, I might even do some knitting! Yes, blog readers, knitting. Crazy, huh? Another reason I look forward to the fall. I’ll be more inclined to knit.

I’m still working on this red scarf. It’s so easy. I don’t know why I don’t finish it.

So on Sunday I worked hard to finish a pair of socks I had been knitting for a long time. I thought they might be helpful against the cold weather. Turns out, not so much. But they are adorable and purple and I’m so happy to have them off the needles so I can get something else done.

It’s a basic stockinette sock with ribbed top. And I used South West Trading Company TOFUtsies yarn.

Today I watched TK’s funeral and balled, of course. I also went to see Inglorious Basterds with some folks, which was pretty fun. Very interesting movie that led to lots of interesting debate. I didn’t get an interesting picture of any of that, but instead took one of a box I got in the mail a few days ago. I ordered some knitting supplies through KnitPicks for making socks, including these sock blockers. Love them!

Theres a ball winder in there too.

After finishing a sock earlier this week, I started right up with the second sock of a pair I started a year ago. This sock is moving really really quickly. I love this yarn, and this pair is just for me!

Oh me, oh my. I finished something today. Something I’ve been working on since November 2007. I finished the perfect storm socks finally! Looking at my Ravelry profile, I saw that I finished the first sock in about a month. The second sock took about 20 months. So ridiculous. Along the way, I had to special order more yarn. Unfortunately, this yarn didn’t exactly match it’s predecessor. It’s lighter in color, a bit fuzzier in texture. But it had to be used, and now the socks don’t quite match each other, but that doesn’t matter. The point is that they are done and will make it’s owner happy.

I’m just so happy to finally complete something! It’s encouraging, since I have so many projects.
