So on Sunday I worked hard to finish a pair of socks I had been knitting for a long time. I thought they might be helpful against the cold weather. Turns out, not so much. But they are adorable and purple and I’m so happy to have them off the needles so I can get something else done.

It’s a basic stockinette sock with ribbed top. And I used South West Trading Company TOFUtsies yarn.

Today I watched TK’s funeral and balled, of course. I also went to see Inglorious Basterds with some folks, which was pretty fun. Very interesting movie that led to lots of interesting debate. I didn’t get an interesting picture of any of that, but instead took one of a box I got in the mail a few days ago. I ordered some knitting supplies through KnitPicks for making socks, including these sock blockers. Love them!

Theres a ball winder in there too.

After finishing a sock earlier this week, I started right up with the second sock of a pair I started a year ago. This sock is moving really really quickly. I love this yarn, and this pair is just for me!

Oh me, oh my. I finished something today. Something I’ve been working on since November 2007. I finished the perfect storm socks finally! Looking at my Ravelry profile, I saw that I finished the first sock in about a month. The second sock took about 20 months. So ridiculous. Along the way, I had to special order more yarn. Unfortunately, this yarn didn’t exactly match it’s predecessor. It’s lighter in color, a bit fuzzier in texture. But it had to be used, and now the socks don’t quite match each other, but that doesn’t matter. The point is that they are done and will make it’s owner happy.

I’m just so happy to finally complete something! It’s encouraging, since I have so many projects.

I wish I was a better knitter, in all meanings. I wish I was better at the art of it and I wish I was better about doing it. I know if I did it more I’d get faster, and I could do it while sitting around. But alas, I do a few rows, grow tired of it and set it down. I especially miss knitting when I see all the yummy yarn I have that hasn’t been touched yet. Perhaps in the winter months I can get back to it.

Soon to be socks.

Soon to be socks.

I’ve been knitting this particular pair of socks for well over a year. I actually had to special order yarn for it since I didn’t buy enough (ugh). But it will be done before the year is out. The other sock (it’s mate) is finished and just waiting to be worn. So I finally picked up the needles again and got to work.

Only the foot left.

Yarnity yarn

I finally visited my local yarn shop to have them special order some yarn for me so I can complete a pair of socks I’ve been making forever. I was also able to pick up some more yarn I needed to complete this scarf I’m making…

I love buying new yarn!

The never-ending cold

So I’ve now had a cold of some sort for the past month. It’s ridiculous. I’m beginning to wonder if I actually just have allergies. I’ve never had allergies in my life and I’m not used to my nose running so much, but things change right? It doesn’t help that it’s completely and horribly dry here. It’s drier than I ever remember it being in Colorado. This winter has been horrible. I’m dying for some snow and there just isn’t any on the plains. Thankfully our mountains are getting snow so our drought won’t be too bad this year. Hopefully.

TV and other entertainmenty things

A couple things to note here…

First of all, I’m re-watching Lost from the start with a friend who has never seen it. It’s been a ton of fun to go back and watch. We’ve come a long way on that show. It’s amazing how little we all knew back in season one.

Second, DOOL is picking up again. Sami is back in town and finally sharing scenes with EJ, so the board is picking back up again and it’s fun to chat with my online friends. On that same front, I’m delighted to report that I’m now following Alison Sweeney on twitter. She’s so great. She’s even replied to me, which is super cool. Now I always joke about how my friend Alison is doing this or doing that.

Current annoyances

I freaking hate these Comcast commercials. They drive me up the wall. It is completely horrible. It almost makes me want to get rid of my service.

I’m totally pissed that U2 isn’t coming to Denver. What the hell? All day I’ve been blaming Pat Bowlen and the stupid Denver Broncos for somehow interfering because of the stadium use. But I really have no idea why they aren’t coming here. I’m bummed out to say the least. Chances are they will come in the summer of 2010, but that might not be soon enough for me. So I might go up to Vancouver and see them with my friends Amanda and Jeremy.

Changes around the house

My household is expanding a bit and it’s been a nice shift. No longer can I be completely lazy and messy. It’s also pushed me into making some changes around here, like relocating the cat box. This might not be permanent, but it’s shown me that I don’t have to live like a hermit. It’s not bad to have someone around the house again.

I’ve been making this scarf for a while now but I ran out of yarn. So I went to my LYS (local yarn store) and picked up some more red for the body of the scarf. Now I don’t have a reason to not finish it!

Its going to be a long scarf!

It's going to be a long scarf!

I continue to make very very slow progress on my knitting. I wish I was faster at it. I’m always amazed at some of my knitting friends who finish projects all the time. I’m not slow at the actual knitting skill, I’m just slow between stitches and especially between rows.

I’ve been doing quite a bit of knitting this extended weekend. I started this new intarsia scarf yesterday.
