Thanksgiving 09

Nov 30, 2009 by

Thanksgiving rushed up and smacked me in the face this year. Also NaNoWriMo’s fault! But I seriously, wasn’t prepared for it. Thankfully, my mom had everything under control and all I had to do was show up! So I drove down to Pueblo and got there just in the nick of time. We had a great meal together and a little bit of pie. Then it was off to my dad’s house for coffee and cashews, and to my brother’s house for the Broncos game! Overall, a very great day spent with my whole family. The next day I came back home because I caught a pretty nasty cold and wanted to be at home to deal with it.

Anyway, here are some photos from the day:

My dad served us some cashews and some coffee he picked up from Loaf ‘N Jug. He just insisted on serving us something, even though we were completely full. It was so cute!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Nov 26, 2009 by

Thanksgiving turkey writer

I am still busy at my NaNoWriMo novel. I will hit 50,000 words, which is so awesome! I only wish that I was actually finishing my book in that many words. Instead, I am no where close to actually finishing the story itself. The book will go on. It’s been so fun to write though lately. I hope Thanksgiving doesn’t distract me too much and I can still get my words in!

Anyway–sorry about the lack of posts, particularly Project 365. I have been slipping on that big time. I promise that starting today I am going to get back to the Project, still only posting once a week though.

For Thanksgiving, I’m going down to Pueblo to visit my family. I hope all of my American friends have wonderful holiday!

So as stated in a pervious post, I’m going to be consolidating my Project 365 posts into one weekly post. Here are my photos for the remainder of last week.

Friday October 30 2009: Matthies Halloween Party

So I am still tracking down a picture of me from the party. My costume turned out great and so I’m eager to see a photo. For the time being, here’s the representation:

Sweet November…kind of

Nov 1, 2009 by

I can’t help but remember a year ago at this time. I was joyous when we crossed over into November. There was so much to look forward to, particularly the election. It had been such a long time coming and the victory was oh so sweet.

This year, there isn’t nearly as much to look forward to this month, but I’m still quite happy to be here. This month I have NaNoWriMo and some fun times already planned with friends. And of course I love Thanksgiving (obviously).

In theory my November started off good, because DST ended last night. That extra hour really helps and it’s great to have the sun come up at a more reasonable time. But then the night got a little strange and I was up a lot dealing with something. Then I got up early today because I wasn’t feeling well and then technology just hasn’t agreed with me today. So yeah, it hasn’t worked out well so far. But I have hope for a great November!

Did I mention that last night I helped Marissa transform into Jackie Kennedy? Or at least something that resembles Mad Men. I am so terrible at doing hair. We struggled over it forever. Somehow we got it looking somewhat right. Much like me, she’s just got so much of it!

As for the rest of Halloween, I pretty much stuck around home and watched a lot of Ghost Hunters and even a “scary” movie called The Eye with Jessica Alba, which completely sucked.

I didn’t get any trick-or-treators (as usual) and so I’m stuck with a great big bowl of candy (yay me!).

Oct 19 2009: Semi-unexpected visitors

Oct 19, 2009 by

I’m not exactly sure what I expect to happen most weeknights. I usually have big plans for the night. Like massive overhauls of various aspects of my life. Like today, I figured that I would come home from one of the most intense workdays I’ve had in forever and spend my off time cleaning my desk area and moving my printer downstairs. Sounds fun, huh? Yet somehow, these extra-curricular self-improvement exercises rarely happen after long days, and I typically crash in front of the TV watching Grey’s Anatomy and playing bejeweled.

And then there are these nights, that I don’t see coming for some reason. It starts of simple enough, Marissa asks me for a ride because Johnny’s working and he has the car. And then that ride is never just a ride to her house. It’s a ride to my house, because Johnny works nearby. And then there’s always this promise that it won’t be for long. Just until Johnny gets off work. But it’s almost always for longer than we plan. And it used to be that Johnny would call to tell her he was here, but she kept inviting him upstairs to help her get her stuff together or to hang out a little while longer. So now he just comes right upstairs. And then they end up sticking around for quite a while and we chat about stuff. It’s great! I really love these nights when I get to hang out with them.

So tonight was one of those nights and we watched the Broncos game and talked all about everything. From drugs, to creative writing, to sports fans, to budgeting and meal planning.
