Life, Love, and the Pursuit of Nerdiness
This is the second Penny post of the week, but I couldn’t resist! Penny’s new favorite toy is a q-tip. When she can get ahold of one she’ll toss it around like crazy. I had to put them away so she can’t steal them. I’ve been finding them all over the house. I’m now calling her “P-tip”.

My cat Penny came into my life via Brian. She was his cat or more like he was her person. She loves Brian and for the longest time loved him more than she loved me. In general, she just likes men better. Now that Brian has been away for a long time, Penny has finally and fully warmed up to me. She follows me all over the house and wants to be close to me all the time. I’m so glad!

Penny used to live on the streets until one day she couldn’t take it anymore and decided the indoor life was for her. She showed up on Brian’s front step on a particularly cold night in October 2002. Given that she lived on the streets and ate off scraps from a nearby nursing home and wildlife, Penny knows how to get food. She also has honed her skills at begging for table scraps, which includes meowing consistently until you pay attention to her, the good old tap-tap with the paw, and trying to look so adorable that I can’t take my eyes off her. See those spots all over my windshield? Those are paw prints from my cats. On Sunday, the door to the garage was left open for hours without us knowing it. Well the cats of course noticed and went on a big adventure in the garage. This isn’t the first time that’s happened, and truthfully I don’t mind it so much. I always end up with a reminder of them when I drive my car afterwards. I didn’t notice it though until today, so I snapped this picture. I wonder why they climb to the top of my car.

My day didn’t amount to a whole lot. I ended up taking an unexpected two hour nap in the afternoon and never ended up changing out of my pajamas. As lame as I might feel about myself on days like this, it should be noted that my cats absolutely love it. They love to cuddle up with me and so it was like 24 hours of night for them.
Everyone deserves a lazy day.
