I had a pretty nice day today. Activities included going to the library to pick up a book I wanted, being able to pick up some peaches and hatch chiles at a farmer’s market, which was right next to the library. Making a peach pie, which is my favorite kind of fruit pie, and catching up on some of my hobbies, like knitting and reading. I also caught the cats being totally adorable in the afternoon sunlight, so I snapped some pictures of them.

I had a great day! I went to the movies with my sister, then we went to the mall for lunch, hung out at my place for a bit, and then we went shopping for groceries together. I love days with my sister. But the bigger headline in my household was that it was finally time for a new bag of cat food. My cats, particularly Persephone, hated the last bag of food. It was for hairball control, and just incredibly bland to them from what I could tell. This time around, I got them a something with more flavor and she couldn’t be happier.

I failed at picture taking today. I only snapped some pictures of the cats because they were being adorable. I feel really lucky that they love each other so much. I could never separate them. They are truly each other’s soul mates. I’m glad they get to live their life together. Sadly, I took about six pictures and one one kind of turned out okay. So I used a little Photoshop magic to make it more interesting.

For a really long time I’ve wanted to get a digital SLR camera. My point and shoot camera works all right, but it just isn’t the same. Since I’m going to Europe in the fall, I wanted to get a great camera far enough in advance to be able to learn how to use it so I can take great pictures. So with the reminder of my Best Buy credit I made the purchase today! After listening to my friend David, I decided to go with a Canon, and since I’m new to all this I started with a EOS Digital Rebel XS 10.1-Megapixel camera. And I got a package deal, so I got a 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Zoom Lens to go with it too.

The hardest part so far was waiting for the battery to charge! But once it did, I went for a little nature walk in my apartment complex and took some photos, and of course I took pictures of the cats. I can’t wait to really learn how to use it!
