Apr 23 2009: Lucky Bamboo

Apr 23, 2009 by

A fairly long time ago in a galaxy not at all far away I got engaged to be married. Some friends of ours held an engagement party for us and at said party my dear friends Amanda and Jeremy gave us a Bamboo plant. It’s the one and only gift that I remember getting from that event and the one that meant the most. Probably because Amanda told me that “it’s supposed to bring you good luck,” and I for one don’t want to mess with a force like bamboo. So I nurtured that little plant as I planned my wedding, and it flourished after the big day had come and gone, and by the time we were moving apart and splitting up it was thriving. My bamboo plant was one of the first things I took to my new apartment. I swore to myself that it would live on even if my marriage did not! Well a year and a half later and an apartment that isn’t conducive to keeping items out of two little cats’ reach, my bamboo is….what’s the right word….ill, sparse, decrepit, desperate? So now it’s been moved to my office, where it will live with the only other plant I’ve managed to pull back from the grave time and time again.

Its gonna thrive again!

It's gonna thrive again!

Mar 17 2009: St. Patrick's Day

Mar 17, 2009 by

Original title huh? I’m saving my creative energy for some other stuff that I’m working on. So what did I do on St. Patty’s Day? Well not much really. I watched some young Irish dancers at the UMC. That was cool. I ate some potato soup. That was good. And that’s about it. I didn’t even really wear green , at least nothing that anybody could see. So yeah, not a huge day for me. So I thought I would post the pictures of the dancers and then a picture of me from St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland in 2006.

Those were totally wigs ;-)

I like to joke with Brian that him and Persephone are totally in love and they are engaged. I snapped this picture of the happy couple tonight in a loving embrace.

Feb 26 2009: Cat at Work

One of Penny’s favorite places to hang out is at my desk. Brian and I always joke that Penny is a shrewd business cat and that she has all these enterprises all over the nation and inventions — like Penn State, Penn Station, Penne Pasta, and even Pens. She’s one busy cat who has worked her way up from life on the streets. And in case you really wanted to know, we think Persephone comes from old money and doesn’t know the value of hard work. Yep, we’re serious dorks, but this is how we think of them.

Thankfully she doesnt have opposable thumbs. Shed take over the world.

The second and full day of Suite Retreat was really fun and rather productive. First of all, Brian drove down to visit and we went to lunch at the Park Meadows Mall. After that I settled in on the couch and started making layouts and we watched movies. And of course we had to watch “I’m f’ing Matt Damon/Ben Affleck.”!
