Jul 04 2009: Independent Advantage

Today was not the most exciting 4th of July in my time, but it turned out all right. I had Marissa and Johnny over for a very traditional barbecue. We ate hamburgers, warm cherry pie a la mode, and watched Knocked Up. How very American! I thought about joining them in Boulder for the fireworks show, but decided to stay in. I hoped that I would be able to see some Fireworks from my apartment, but I didn’t hold my breath. Well it turns out that I could see them, and well. So I grabbed my telephoto lens and from my balcony took about 100 photos. Thankfully, I had read some fireworks tutorials on the Internet this morning, but alas I’m still not completely trained, so I got a few good ones and then some duds. Somehow seeing the fireworks made my day and I felt like I really got to celebrate the holiday.
