May 31 2009: Catching Up

May 31, 2009 by

With modern technology, that is. Here’s my replacement TV for the bedroom. I don’t have a ton of money to spend (since I just bought a Wii), so I had to do it on the cheap, but I do feel kind of cool that I bought my first flat panel television. It’s great so far!

I like how light they are to move around. My Sony was a little beast.

May 30 2009: Farewell (for now) Sweet Sony

May 30, 2009 by

My little Sony TV needs to move into a retirement home. It’s been in my family for over twenty years. The picture is still amazing, but it isn’t responding to remote controls any more. Before it dies all together, I want to retire it to my closet and hold on to it as if I could at any moment plug it in and use it. So tonight, I bought a new television for my bedroom. Before I unplugged it, I gave it a little talk and thanked it for all it’s service. The last program to air on it was a Stevie Wonder concert that happened to be on when I turned it on. It wanted to rock out to “Higher Ground.” It was perfect.

Ill miss you!

I'll miss you!

Weigh-in: May 30, 2009

May 30, 2009 by

I just did my third official weigh-in, and let’s just say it wasn’t nearly as spectacular as the last two. I only lost -.2 pounds, which basically meant that I maintained. I expected this to a certain extent because I’ve already had two big losses. Although there’s no loss to speak of, this week was much easier in terms of sticking on plan. I had no problem sticking to my points and even left quite a few flex points behind. And even though I’m disappointed from the lack of progress and I didn’t meet my first goal weight, I decided to buy a Wii anyway and EA Sports Active. The one thing lacking from my week was activity. Hopefully this will help. And I want to participate in the 30-day challenge that starts on June 1.

Date Weight Loss/Gain Total
5/9/09 –Start– 0
5/16/09 -4.4 -4.4
5/23/09 -4.6 -9.0
5/30/09 -0.2 -9.2

I Copy Jen

May 30, 2009 by

Jen posted this little survey on her great blog True Confessions of a Scrapbooker.

1. What is your current obsession?
Oh there are so many. But if I could sum it up for the day, it would probably be the three W’s. Weight Watchers (healthy eating), Wii (because I got one!), and Wallender (Masterpiece Mystery on PBS).

2. What is your weirdest obsession?
My daily “Good Morning” routine with Marissa and Chris, where we send each other an e-mail with pictures of hot celebrities.

3. What are you wearing today?
Right now I’m wearing pajama pants with cupcakes on it and a blue striped shirt.

4. What’s for dinner?
I’m guessing something made on the grill. Depends on what I go buy at the store.

5. What would you like for your last meal?
A bean and cheese burrito, with lots of melted cheese.

6. What’s the last thing you bought?
I bought a Wii yesterday!

7. What are you listening to right now?
My cat snoring.

8. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Mud Pie.

9. If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
Dalkey, Ireland.

10. If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
To the swankiest and most expensive spa on the French Riviera for a massage. My shoulders are aching (probably from the Wii).

11. Which language would you want to learn?
French. I keep trying.

12. What’s your favorite quote (for now)?
“Let other pens dwell on guilt and misery.” Jane Austen

13. What’s your favorite color?
Red

14. What’s your favorite time of day?
I’m with Jen, Sunset in the summer time.

15. What is your favorite piece of clothing in your wardrobe?
This one particular pair of jeans I have. If I could, I would wear them everyday.

16. What is your dream job?
Novelist.

17. What’s your favorite magazine?
Cooking Light.

18. If you had $100 right now, what would you spend it on?
Some games for the Wii.

19. Do you admire anyone’s style?
Stacy from What Not To Wear. She always looks so cute.

20. Describe your personal style?
Eclectic with a hint of boring.

21. What are you going to do after this?
Get showered, dressed, and over to the store to get groceries.

22. What are your favorite movies?
Here are the movies that I have to watch if I see them on TV: Pride & Prejudice, Dirty Dancing, Last of the Mohicans, and Bridget Jones’s Diary.

23. What’s your favorite fruit?
Strawberries.

24. What inspires you?
Watching focused people complete things. I lack focus. That’s why I have so many obsessions and so many projects. I’m great at starting things, but struggle finishing them. Even this survey. I almost dumped it after a few questions.

25. Do you collect something?
Not really. I guess you could say I collect books.

If you play along, leave me a comment in the comments section! I’d love to see what you all answer!

May 29 2009: Wii

May 29, 2009 by

I promised myself that if I met my first weight goal that I would buy a Wii. Well, I didn’t meet it (yet), but I decided to get one anyway. The timing was too perfect. My sister’s boyfriend Johnny knows all there is to know about the gaming system, and since I had him over at my house I thought he could help me buy it and help me set it up. So I went for it and decided I would set up a new reward for getting to my goal weight. Plus, I bought EA Sports Active. I’ve heard absolutely amazing things about it. A new 30-day challenge is starting on June 1, and I wanted to participate. Now I can. And I bet I’ll hit my goal weight faster than ever, now that I have it!

I already have Wii arm.
