Mar 26 2009: Spring Blizzard

Mar 26, 2009 by

I’m sure all Project 365 participants that live in Colorado took pictures of the blizzard. It was quite a day. For a lot of folks in the Denver Metro it didn’t even really start to snow until mid-morning, which made it a bit chaotic as the storm really hit and they were out and about. Where I live, close to Boulder, there was already snow at 7 a.m. and it was getting pretty bad right away. They closed down the university, but I hadn’t gone in anyway. At one point there was a good two hours of just white out where I couldn’t see out my windows. And because it’s Colorado, this morning there may be a foot of snow on the ground but there’s not a cloud in the sky and it’s beautiful outside. I told a friend of mine who suffered through a rough Canadian winter that this was a real blessing for us here since this is by far more snow in one storm than what we got all winter.

Mar 25 2009: Invitation

Mar 25, 2009 by

I received a very special invitation in the mail. It’s for my brother’s wedding. I am so delighted that he’s marrying Jennifer. She’s a great addition to our family. I think she’s done just a beautiful job with the theme and invitations. Really well done do-it-yourself! And I would know how hard that is since I did my own too. It’s just lovely.

So thats where Ill be, May 15.

So that's where I'll be, May 15.

Spring Break Dude!

Mar 25, 2009 by

Well I made it out of last week just fine. The event was a success (at least on my end) and I got all of my project work done. I went home for the weekend so relieved and relaxed. Of course the weekend flew by like I figured it would.

A part of me wanted to go to the midnight release of Twilight on DVD, but I just can’t take the fan girls and I’ve already seen it a ton, so there was no rush. I did buy it on iTunes though (Thanks Amanda!), which released it at 10 p.m. my time anyway. I ended up getting the HD version. Holy crap. Let’s just say there is a massive difference between the version I bought versus the version I had gotten off the Internet while it was still in theaters. HUGE.

The latter version happens to have that bright spot in the corner, which is just random at that moment. It wasn’t there the whole movie, but still, the quality differences are just ridiculous.

So now it’s spring break and as I mentioned in my last post, it is truly dead on campus. I love it! My co-worker is also back, which is a relief in a lot of ways, although the other one I cover for is now in Mexico. It doesn’t matter though because it’s much more relaxed at work this week. I have Friday off, which is great. I’ll be headed down to Pueblo to see my family. It will be great to be down there as March Madness continues, so I can watch the games with my brother and dad.

Oh yeah, that’s right. I’m super into March Madness this year. How could I not be when I have to let my roomie watch it? But it’s fun to be competitive, and when you care about the outcomes to win a bet, it makes the whole sport so much more exciting. Right now we have a bet between me, my roomie, my dad, and my brother. I was doing really well and now I’m in last place. But at least I’m tied with Barack Obama, so that makes me feel better.

The only other thing to report is that I’ve been getting back into my writing, so that’s good. I’m making some great progress and I’ve had a few ideas that will help the story connect and transition better. I’m always amazed at what you can find on the Internet. I was trying to understand what it would be like to drive from London to Somerset. And then I found this video, which is just awesome. It’s a time lapsed drive from London to Somerset. I will never have the proper feel for it unless I go there personally and experience it, but these little bits help when I’m writing.

Mar 24 2009: Sushi (Six Years Ago)

Mar 24, 2009 by

I failed to take a photo yesterday. Well that’s not exactly true. I did take a photo but it’s just not right for the blog. So I looked through the archives and found a photo from six years ago at this exact time (3/25/03…it’s as close as I could get). Funny story about this photo. I lost a bet with a co-worker and she made me eat Sushi. I’m not a big fan of fish in general so it was quite a task for me. She made it easy on me though and didn’t get anything too out there. It was the last time I had sushi as well.

Im not going to lie, that looks pretty tasty.
