Mar 31 2009: Rochelle Michael

Mar 31, 2009 by

So I didn’t take a picture, but I do have an interesting image to post. I’ve launched a new website for my writing and my effort to write a novel. I’ve picked a pen name since my own last name is in limbo and I’m not quite sure what it’s going to turn out to be in this life. So I thought I should just pick one and stick with it for these purposes. I decided on “Michael” because it’s a family name. My Grandmother on my father’s side was a Michael. She came from a huge family and had seven brothers and sisters, while my grandfather was an only child and had very little in the way of family. So more than Malouffs, we were much closer to the Michaels. Growing up I was a little jealous that it couldn’t just be our last name too because it’s so simple, yet it still connected us to our Lebanese roots. Furthermore, I’m used to being an RM anyway, so I also liked that I could still be one with Rochelle Michael. So that’s my logic behind the pen name. Anyway, I’m blogging over there about my process and my progress. I like the site and it’s my first effort with a wordpress.org installation and customization.

Ive been averaging about 1,300 words a day on my novel.

Mar 30 2009: The Alienist

Mar 30, 2009 by

So I’m finally getting into one of my books for the Chunky Challenge that I’m doing this year. This is the The Alienist and I’ve owned for at least five years. I’ve heard great things about it and I can see why already. Caleb Carr is also a very talented writer. He’s got a great vocabulary.

Its got Theodore Roosevelt in it. Its gotta be good.

Mar 29 2009: Lost

Mar 29, 2009 by

I’m watching Lost from the beginning again. So much is going on now in the current season that relates back to these older episodes. It’s a blast to watch and I forgot just how scary it was. Even though I know the outcomes (well, some of them), I still get frightened.

I also forgot how mean Sawyer was back then!

Mar 28 2009: Basketball and Nachos

I made my monster nachos to munch on while watching some Elite Eight basketball games. The competition is fierce this year! A good chunk of my family and a couple of friends are involved in a pool this year. It sure makes the games that much more interesting to watch and a good reason to enjoy it with friends.

Mar 27 2009: Where A Cat Doesn't Belong

Mar 27, 2009 by

Today was a great day. I dug out from yesterday’s blizzard and went to the store this morning. Then I stayed in the rest of the day and did stuff around the house, which meant doing stuff on my computer. I had a good writing day, where I wrote 2400 words. Anyway, I was set up at the desk today and I think Persephone couldn’t really deal with it. She loves to be on my lap all the time (and even at this moment is sitting at my feet). Well all day she kept insisting on sitting on my laptop. This drove me nuts all day. I’m fairly certain that it would be okay for her to do that, but I just don’t want to take any chances with such an expensive work laptop.
