Actual Progress in Scrapbooking

Jan 14, 2009 by

Tonight I made some new purchases in the digital scrapbooking realm to help my friend Tina earn some credit for her Digital Get Together I attended on Saturday. I got a lot of the digital power pallets, so after installing the packages I decided to give it a go. I have a lot of projects I want to do, like my Obama book, but also my college albums, which I’ve decided to do digitally.

I’m still a bit new to it and I hope to create some really unique pages, but so far I haven’t put a lot into it. I keep remembering that motto “Simple Pages, Completed Albums.” It’s helpful so I don’t go overboard.

Here’s one I worked on tonight back from 1997 when my friend Jilliane came to visit me in the dorm.

From my college album.

I was thinking about getting a new subscription to Lasting Moments magazine but I just read that they are discontinuing it. That’s a bummer because it was a really cool magazine. Apparently they are going to sell idea books, which is just okay. I hate to see publications of any kind discontinue.

As for other cropping activities. I’m signed up for three projects in the coming quarter. Projects are really cool. I did one in December where we made an 8×8 Christmas album.

Projects are…

A quick and easy project – complete in one sitting. Sound good? Creative Memories’ new Featured Project Bundles provide a group of coordinating products bundled at a special price. Each project comes complete with its own idea sheet that provides easy instructions to complete the project.

The first one is called “Message Center.” I’m pretty excited about this one! Here’s the description:

Get your 2009 organized in a clever way! You’ll be creating 12 monthly calendar pages to attach to the Mini Everyday Display with magnets. Mount the display on a wall in your kitchen or workroom, or place on a desktop using the built-in easel.

Then in the next couple of weeks we’ll do “Made with Love.”

Say I love you to your spouse, parent, sibling, child or friend with this beautiful handmade album.

Finally I’ll be doing the “Our Heritage” project.

This project helps you decorate 32 paper pages featuring your family’s heritage photos and stories. You’ll be creating the pages first, then sliding them into the album for protection and display. Take this opportunity to interview relatives and capture the stories of days gone by. Your family will treasure this keepsake for generations to come.

Sometimes Creative Memories can drive me crazy, but I feel like they are kind of getting on the right track. I like the project ideas and I’m sure they are good moneymakers for them.

Anyway, I hope I can do more this year and not be too sad. It’s been hard to scrapbook since Brian and I separated, but there is still so much to be happy about.
