The Crazy Eyes

When I adopted my cat Persephone I had no idea how food crazy she could be. At the time, we happened to be feeding our other cat wet food, so we just started giving her some. Wet food became like a drug for Persephone. She craved it all the time, and when she got it she would eat it all in one sitting. Kind of like me with Taco Bell, cake, or milkshakes.

Years later, it just got to be too much to deal with. Both of our cats were gaining a lot of weight and sometimes she would eat so fast that she would throw up.

For the past year they have only been eating “crunchies,” and Perseph has kicked her habit. She’s back down to a normal cat weight and doesn’t go so crazy anymore, nor does she put her little life in danger by swirling around my feet every time I’m in the kitchen. Well, at least not as much.

There’s one thing though that Perseph does get wild about though. It’s milk. She gets what Brian and I call “The Crazy Eyes.” Imagine eating a bowl of cereal and you have a cat who looks as if she would kill you to get a lick of that milk. She used to just go for it and stick her head in my bowl. Now she knows better, after getting sprayed with the water bottle a lot, so she just sits there with her crazy eyes.
