I’ve been slacking on the blog. Bad me!

So Memorial Day weekend was quite an adventure. Both Brian and I had it off and here is what we did:

  • Caught up with the college friends at Dave and Busters on Friday (what a blast!)
  • Went to the Rockies on Monday (fun!)
  • Had two nights in a row of really good dinners (thank god for Points Allowance)
  • Did some shopping
  • Did some scrapbooking
  • Did some relaxing
  • *Almost* went the pool (there was a private party, but we got in ours suits)
  • Watched a terrible movie (An American Haunting, boooo)
  • And did some things that couples do (wink, wink)

HOWEVER, Monday night Brian wasn’t feeling well most of the night and so I was up with him. I didn’t get a lot of rest so on Tuesday I felt like crap. So I went home!

Backing up a bit….there was a possibility that I was going to join my dad and sister in New York this week. They were going and I thought I would hop along if I could catch a flight. Turns out the flight loads got ridiculous so that didn’t quite work out. Well I planned for the time off and so I ended up taking some of it!

So on Tuesday I went home from work very early and then I stayed home yesterday just because. I had a great time. I needed it!

I did some cleaning and some organizing. And I even read!

Too bad I decided to go back to work today. How lame! And tomorrow too, ick.

This weekend Brian will be out in CA, so I do have the place to myself. I’m going to pick up where I left off yesterday. I’m definitely going to finish my book and do a LOT of scrapbooking.

Speaking of scrapbooks…I am about to order my wedding and honeymoon pictures. I’m guessing about 750 pictures. I have set a goal. My goal is to do my wedding and honeymoon albums by the end of June. Ridiculous I know! BUT, Brian will be gone most of the month for his job and so I will have free nights to get to it.

Also in cropping land, I just got back from a “Border Bonanza,” where I spent $44 on pre-cut designs. They were ho-hum. I just ended up buying a lot of birthday and Christmas borders since there will always be a need for that. I also bought every cat border that they had.

Finally, I had my second weigh-in today. I lost a pound, putting me at 4.6 pounds total. Feels pretty good. I’ll post my chart tomorrow.

Score 1, Knit 1

May 23, 2007 by

So for the past couple of days Brian has been in Florida. He had to go to Jacksonville for business. Frontier is going to start flying there and will of course have on-call maintenance. Brian used to live in Jacksonville so he is incredible excited to have Jacksonville as his city. He’ll be traveling there quite a bit. He’s on his way home right now and I’m excited to see him!

Since he’s been gone I have been doing “rochellie” things. Meaning, watching tv and doing crafts. The past two nights I have also been scoring the Rockies games. I *LOVE* the Rockies and enjoy watching baseball so much. Scoring the game is such a great way to watch a game because you track the game pitch by pitch. It makes watching the game really involved and exciting.

While watching the Rockies tonight the announcers advertised a special night at the Rockies called “Stitch ‘N Pitch,” where those who love needle crafts go out to the game and enjoy some baseball while they work on their crafts. WHAT!?! Could it be?!?! Two hobbies in one.

I wonder if I could knit, watch baseball, AND score a game all at once.

For those that like to multi-task. This is the ultimate! My problem as multi-tasker is that I am sooo good at it and I do it oh so frequently that just enjoying one thing at a time is so boring to me. I have to be doing stuff. Like now, just scoring and watching the game isn’t good enough. I’m writing in my blog. Another draw back is my inability to stay focused or on one topic.

Amanda once told me that women run at a higher energy level that allows for great multi-tasking. Interesting to think about.

Finished Baby Booties

May 23, 2007 by

I finished the baby booties project I had been working on. To come up with two matching good booties, I had to make four total. The first one was ok. Kind of loose and a bit messy. The second one was nearly perfect, with a nice tight fabric. The third one wasn’t so good for whatever reason, and the fourth one was the best by far.

I have the booties to my friend David who is a father-to-be. I told him I made them yellow for his future Lance Armstrong. He liked them a lot. I heard his wife was really excited to see them too.

Here is are pictures of the final product:

My next project is a continuation of something I had already started. It’s called a “Magic Scarf” and it’s made with blue bulky yarn and a confetti ribbon. What makes it magic is that it looks like patches since you alternate stockinette stitch. I will post pictures when it is done.

On Plan

May 21, 2007 by

Well I took another weekend off from blogging, but that’s ok. The weekend went by so so fast.

On Friday night we just hung out at home, and the same went for Saturday during the day. I sat on the balcony for a long time and knit another baby bootie. Saturday night we went to dinner early and I used my flex points for the first time. I had chicken fajitas and they were sooo good! I only had a few chips and wasn’t even sad about not having more. Brian is also trying to lose some weight. He’s just trying to be more health conscious. We did great!

After dinner we went for a drive out in the country, on this windy road called “Riverside Road”. He loves driving like that. We ended up on highway 7, and so I suggested that we go over to Dick’s sporting goods. He wanted to find a bike rack for his car and I wanted to look at bikes. He didn’t find one that he liked, and I checked out different bikes. I’m thinking about getting one. I want a comfort bike, because the longer I am comfortable on it, the longer I will ride it. None of these skinny bike seats! I got a big rump and I like it! So I might be investing in one of those soon. Brian rides his bike just about everyday. We also looked at sleeping bags and camping gear. I really want to go car camping! Maybe someday soon…

That night we hung out on the balcony for awhile and I had a little wine. It was nice and relaxing.

Yesterday I went shopping at Park Meadows and he went mountain biking. I felt like I got a work out because I walked up and down that mall and was tired by the end. I ended up only buying stuff at Dick’s. I got a new gym bag, and it is totally cute. Just having a new bag makes me want to go to the gym more!

Brian and I met back up at home and went to CB & Potts for dinner. We watched baseball and just hung out in there. I ended up having ribs and veggies, which turned out to be just fine points wise. It was so delicious!

So that’s a recap of the weekend. My doctor’s appointment on Friday went well. No lumps or bumps to speak of, so that is good. I did have to get a tetanus shot, since it had been more than ten years. My arm still hurts from it.

Today has been pretty great so far. We decided to move our WW meetings to Mondays, so we went to the lunch time one. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I had lost 3.6 pounds! It really didn’t seem that hard to be back on the plan. I agree with Amanda that it really isn’t that hard to do, and I had been fearing it for some reason.

I set a new longterm goal with Brian. My goal is to fit into the skirt I wore on our first date. It’s three sizes smaller than what I wear now. Since I believe in small goals I’m not fixating on it right now. I did try it on in front of him. I couldn’t get the buttons to touch, let alone the zipper to zip up. Longterm goal….I just want my clothes back!

Anyway, I’m going to take the next hour to work on my CSS lessons.
